TPMS Problem - Background on an Industry Problem

Today, over 50% of all vehicles in service are equipped with direct measuring TPMS systems. Many shops report that up to 80% of the vehicles they service have direct TPMS. There are hundreds of TPMS systems that you must know, in order to service all the unique Year, Makes and Models equipped with this technology. Our catalog of over 1,200 unique TPMS parts is the most extensive in the industry.

If you sell or service tires, you know that TPMS is a critical component that you now have to deal with.

The Tire Retailer is left to deal with the complex web of systems, parts and service requirements that is TPMS today. The Tire Retailer had little input on the Federal mandate that would launch TPMS into millions of vehicles. Our firsthand experience is from the Tire Retailer level. We watched as the complexity grew and the information became less available and unreliable.

TPMS is difficult due to the lack of standardization at many levels. The result is:

  7. Lear
  8. Pacific Industrial Co
  9. Schrader International
  10. Siemens
  11. Smartire Systems

All of this combined to create:

  • Over 1200 unique TPMS sensor catalog parts
  • 100's of vehicle relearn procedures
  • Hundreds of parts supersessions
  • Hundreds of service kits
  • Multiple TPMS scan tool options
  • New technology of programmable and universal TPMS systems
  • Difficult parts identification
  • Little or no cross-compatibility

Over 40 different catalogs would be required to meet the needs of a Tire Retailer. We took the process of servicing TPMS and established 5 key elements to performing TPMS service.

  1. Vehicle to OEM part identification
  2. Interchange of compatible parts
  3. Service kits for all sensors
  4. Relearn requirements
  5. Scan tool requirements and compatibility

Our mission is to provide a platform of information, which will benefit both industry and the tire retailing community. Managing TPMS service has never been easier. Our easy to use software guides you through the correct TPMS part application, part replacement, vehicle relearn and scan tool requirements. Know what to do, quickly and easily.
